What is an Authorized Provider?
An Authorized Provider is a company, agency/organization, or individual who has a need to utilize American Red Cross health and safety training curriculum to provide training to their employees, members or customers. By establishing an "APA" (Authorized Provider Agreement), the company, agency/organization, or individual agrees to act as a representative of the American Red Cross and provide American Red Cross instructional programs in accordance with its standards and objectives and receive nationally recognized certifications. The "APA" provides an outline of the mutual expectations, rights, and responsibilities of both the American Red Cross chapter and the Authorized Provider.
What are the Responsibilities of an Authorized Provider?
The Authorized Provider is obligated to pay the local chapter an administrative support fee per participant in each course that utilizes American Red Cross instruction and materials. Without a current "APA", the Authorized Provider would pay full-service fees to receive American Red Cross certifications, and the credit and maintenance of course records and updates.
The Authorized Provider must provide a suitable classroom with tables and chairs, plus ample floor space for practice sessions. A carpeted floor is nice, but not required.
All American Red Cross printed material is copyrighted. Prior written approval is required to duplicate any of this material. All courses taught by an American Red Cross instructor must have the course information entered onto a Course Record and submitted to our office for processing within a 10-day period following the completion of the course.
What are the Benefits to being an Authorized Provider?
The Hawaii State Chapter will support record keeping of the course, of the students participating in the course, and issuing certifications in a timely manner. The Hawaii State Chapter also supports the Authorized Provider’s training staff member(s) who is/are authorized American Red Cross instructor(s) with program updates and maintaining their instructor record. Authorized providers may use the American Red Cross name and emblem when promoting and advertising American Red Cross courses. Signage that can be displayed at your training facility will identify you as an American Red Cross Authorized Provider so that your members, customers and employees will know that they are receiving the best training available for their investment.
