PROJECTS

Troop Project Information

We have a list of 18 contact points for the Hawaii Army National Guard. Each unit “contact” serves between 25 to 50 soldiers. Once you have a “care package” and/or letters (write to “Dear Service Member”) together, let Patti Shannon know and she will send you a name and address for shipping.

When you come up with good ideas for collecting items or fundraising for shipping expenses, etc. please share them with Patti Shannon and we’ll post on our website.

Suggested Items To Include In Military Care Packages:

  • Deodorant, Shower to Shower body powder, foot powder, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste
  • Food items in individual packages (cookies, candy-no chocolate except M&Ms, trail mix, coffee, soup mix, drink mix, granola bars, cheese & crackers, Pringles, beef jerky, mints
  • Disposable camera, Long-distance phone cards, playing cards
  • Music CDs or movie DVDs (action, suspense, something an 18-22 year old male might like)
  • Ink pens, dominos, board games, batteries: AA and D
  • Current magazines and paperback books, shoe laces for gym shoes and boots
  • CPR TRAINING

    All Red Cross Club members AND advisors are welcomed to register for pre-scheduled classes at our Red Cross training site(s) year-round. The schedules can be viewed online (at the "Take a Class" menu). Registration can only be accepted under the following guidelines:

  • Registration must be called in by the Club's Advisor. Call 739-8123, 739-8132, or 739-8142 to register. Our Registrars will have the list of Red Cross Club Advisors.
  • Members and advisors will receive 1 Adult CPR course per year, FREE. Any additional course taken with the Adult CPR or any other course taken, at any other time during the year, will need to be paid by the Member.
  • A limit of two members will be allowed per class.
  • Registration must take place at least two weeks prior to class date.
  • Any changes must be made at least 48 hours before class date.
  • Members or advisors who do not show up for a class may reschedule only once. After a second no-show, they may take the training by paying our regular rates.
  • Fundraising

    Potential donors should be confident that any fundraising for the Red Cross is legitimate and that all donations will go to the Red Cross. Representatives of the Red Cross should present themselves professionally and with pride, especially when seeking donations or contributions for the Red Cross.
