Nurse Aide (CNA) Exam

The American Red Cross administers the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Exam for the State of Hawaii, providing regularly scheduled testing dates statewide at various locations. The Red Cross also enters into agreements with facilities and other training programs to provide group testing in their own training facility.

The Exam consist of two parts, the Skills Test and the Written Test. The entire exam can be completed in one day and takes approximately 5 1/2 hours. The applicant must successfully pass the Skills Test before taking the Written Test. The applicant is notified of test results on the same day, and upon passing will receive the State of Hawaii Certified Nurse Assistant card in the mail within 10 working days.
