What is a Red Cross Club?

Red Cross Clubs are school-based service groups that help the American Red Cross fulfill its humanitarian mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering. By working with the Hawaii Red Cross Chapter, club members participate in service projects that impact their school, their community, and the world.

Club members:

  • Learn lifesaving skills
  • Help teach keiki how to swim during the summer
  • Educate their classmates about disaster planning
  • Participate in fun activities, such as collecting supplies for overseas military, cell phone/ink cartridge drives, and whatever other events clubs think of
  • What makes Red Cross Clubs so special?

You learn new skills - whether its being trained in CPR and first aid, or becoming a mentor to young children - there are lots of ways the American Red Cross can teach you to save a life and to help others. It could help you discover a career path in care giving or emergency assistance fields. Youll feel proud of what you accomplish, its rewarding, its FUN, and it looks great on college applications. Gain valuable organizational and leadership skills while helping to fulfill the Red Cross humanitarian mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering.

What are the goals of Red Cross Clubs?

Red Cross Club goals are designed to fulfill the mission of the American Red Cross, which is to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Red Cross Clubs are committed to:

  • Improving the lives of our fellow students and others who live in the community
  • Providing educational programs for their classmates and younger children that will help them develop lifesaving skills
  • Assisting the Red Cross in preparing our schools, families, and communities for disasters
  • Supporting the work of their local Red Cross through fundraising activities
  • Encouraging all interested students to become members, regardless of sex, race, or national origin
  • Upholding the principles that educate, encourage, and empower them as role models and set them on a path to be current and future leaders
  • Why start a Red Cross Club at your school?

School is the place to stretch your capabilities, and volunteerism is a vital part of education. You will discover opportunities for self-awareness, and develop leadership and organizational skills while meeting new people and having fun.

    Who can join?

ALL interested middle school, high school, and college students, especially those who are interested in helping to make their school and community a safer place to live.
