NURSE ASSISTANT TRAINING (to be a CNA) PROGRAM

The American Red Cross Hawaii is committed to adhering to the highest standards of instruction through our Nurse Assistant Training Program. Both the in-house and the online courses will provide the training and skills that enable students to provide high quality care for residents in long-term care settings, homecare and hospitals. Successful completion of this 130+ hour course prepares the student to take the Hawaii State Nurse Assistant Competency Exam.

Registration Information & Fees

Class enrollment is limited to 12 students for the in-house course and 6 students for the online clinical weeks. Students must be registered in their desired, available, training session by the deadline date. Fee for in-house classes is $1250. The online course fee is $1385. Full Payment must be submitted at time of registration. Payment by Cash, Credit Card, P.O., or money order can be made online or by visiting your local American Red Cross branch. The cost of the TB 2-step test or the state competency exam is NOT included in the course tuition. If registering online, the student MUST submit the completed application form, ID, TB clearance and student health record within three (3) days. Books, uniform coupon and badge can be picked up anytime after registration and payment.

Attendance and Testing

The State of Hawaii requires all applicants, to sit for the Nurse Assistant Competency Exam, must complete a minimum of 100 hours training program at a state-approved Nurse Assistant Training School, minimum 70 hours of lecture/lab work and 30 hours of clinical practicum at a skilled nursing facility or lab setting. The American Red Cross 130 hours training program must be completed successfully in order to receive a completion certificate. The online curriculum includes online at your pace self-study sessions, video demonstrations and session exams. Please see curriculum for time requirements.

How to Register

Students may register in person, by phone or online for either the in-house or online class offerings. To register for the ONLINE CLASS click on the link in the left margin titled; "ONLINE NURSE AIDE COURSE REGISTRATION."

Refund and Transfer Policy

Refunds are subject to our refund policy. Refund policy, click here. A student may transfer one time after their initial registration. The transfer request must be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled course start date. There will be a fee of $25.00 to transfer.

Babysitter�s Training

Designed to teach youth age 11 and older about the responsibilities of a babysitter. Students learn accident prevention, diapering, feeding, and emergency first aid as well as how to choose age appropriate games and toys, and how to prepare for a job as a babysitter
